The department of reproductive control
In 2018, Trump’s administration set out to quietly end Title X - the only federal program providing reproductive health care to millions of women. Women’s Equality Center, which exists to defend women’s reproductive rights, especially access to free birth control, approached Futerra to bring this issue into the public eye.
Introducing The Department of Reproductive Control: a dystopian new government department. We set out to create a fake, oppressive government department and make people question – could this department really exist? Then spark outrage that its policies were all too real.
We asked people to officially respond to the White House, sharing their opposition – hoping for a few thousand. Nearly 500,000 objections were submitted.
The campaign was featured in various national news outlets, made an appearance on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and even on Infowars. The campaign engaged nearly a million people in a 2-week period.
